Bob reports this afternoon that Debra is doing just great! She was up most of the morning, had a nice lunch, ventured down the outside stairs and actually walked about a half-block in the neighborhood on this beautiful spring day!

There's No Place Like Home ...
Sorry for the lack of updates recently...your 'reporter' here was without internet access for 4 days!
All in all, it was a pretty good weekend for Deb....And, after a 'real food' lunch today, our girl was discharged to home -- a full day earlier than expected! She even managed to make it up the stairs just fine...(and much to Bob's relief)!
After getting settled back in bed, she's been enjoying reading all the cards she's received over these past several days. She's also bossing Bob around again...so you KNOW she's feeling better!
The test results received on Friday were not altogether perfect, but still extremely encouraging. From all reports, the surgeon is very pleased with her recovey progress to date and the oncologist is also very positive about her prognosis. It is expected that Deb will begin further treatment (e.g. radition and/or chemotherapy) in about 8 weeks and after she fully recovers from the surgery.
In the meantime, please keep those cards and letters coming ....

A Room of Her Own ...
Debra continues to improve from her surgery! Late this afternoon, she was transferred out of ICU and into a "Mardi Gras" decorated room. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Bob reports she's been sitting up in the bed (and the chair) this afternoon and is in good spirits. He indicated she may even be discharged home early next week.

Up and At 'Em ...
Bob reports this morning that Debra continues to do well -- and, although still slightly jaundiced, that her good color is returning! Yea...
He also reports she's pretty alert (especially considering all the post-surgical medications) -- happy, smiling, and consuming ice chips and water.
Plans for today include getting her up and out of bed -- at least for a little while.

Out of the OR!
Debra's surgery was completed at 1:30 p.m. today and she is doing well. Bob reports the surgeon is very pleased with how well things went -- and that the surgery actually took about 1.5 hours shorter than originally expected. I'm sure Deb will be pleased to learn she didn't go over her fully allotted time!
She is currently in ICU and is expected to remain there until at least noon tomorrow. Family members will be able to visit her every 2 hours.
Additional test results expected on Friday will reveal whether additional treatment/therapies will be necessary.
In the meantime, please continue to keep Debra and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Please also feel free to take a moment and post your well-wishes and let Debra know you're thinking about her.

The Big Day...
Debra was readmitted to UTMB-Galveston earlier this afternoon to prepare for her surgery tomorrow. The "Whipple Surgery" is scheduled for 7:15 am and is expected to last until around lunch-time.
She's in great spirits and she and Bob went out for a "liquid" dinner tonight where she enjoyed some exceptional chicken broth at one of their favorite Galveston restaurants.
The surgery tomorrow will be long and complex...but is reportedly very effective. Her surgeon promises that Deb will be up and walking by Wednesday!
Please keep Deb and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she begins the most significant and challenging campaign of all.
We will do our best to post updates on Deb's progress frequently, so please check back here. Please also feel free to post 'well wishes' to her that she can see over the next few weeks as she is able.
