A Room of Her Own ...

Debra continues to improve from her surgery! Late this afternoon, she was transferred out of ICU and into a "Mardi Gras" decorated room. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Bob reports she's been sitting up in the bed (and the chair) this afternoon and is in good spirits. He indicated she may even be discharged home early next week.

If you'd like to send a "Get Well" card or flowers, please send them next week to:

1828 Avenue M
Galveston, Texas 77550

This will help ensure delivery and provide Deb with the best opportunity to enjoy them.

In the meantime, please know Debra will be getting some much needed rest over the next several days and how much she and her family all appreciate your kind and generous words and expressions of support.

More updates tomorrow ...

Please let Debra know that the House bible study group has had her on our prayer list and we offer her up in prayer every day.

Tell her to get well and that we love her.

Debra, many, many folks have you in their thoughts and prayers, including the ALF Board that met yesterday.

My best,

Will pass along this progress report to your many friends here at the law center. We have been researching statutes and case law, and have found no dissenting opinions to the prevailing view that you should continue to get better. (And you know how rare it is to get even two lawyers to agree, much less a whole school of them!) Patty

We're so releived to hear some good news after the bad. We immediately wanted to call Bob, but knew he had his hands full. A big thanks to Kitty for starting this so we can keep up with Debra's progress. We've had quite a few calls asking us for info (these are obviously people who don't know us very well - we usually know nothing)& are referring them here.

Stay strong.

Ralph and I went to see Debra yesterday (Friday night) and she was doing great. We can happily report that Debra has gotten excellent care at UTMB, we met both doctors and nurses who were wonderful. And she's in good spirits -- the doctors said her prognosis is excellent.

We love you Debra --

Dear Debra, I know how difficult that sort of surgery can be and I am so happy to hear it was successful and your prognosis is good. My very best wishes for a speedy recovery. Maureen O'Reilly
