The Big Day...

Debra was readmitted to UTMB-Galveston earlier this afternoon to prepare for her surgery tomorrow. The "Whipple Surgery" is scheduled for 7:15 am and is expected to last until around lunch-time.

She's in great spirits and she and Bob went out for a "liquid" dinner tonight where she enjoyed some exceptional chicken broth at one of their favorite Galveston restaurants.

The surgery tomorrow will be long and complex...but is reportedly very effective. Her surgeon promises that Deb will be up and walking by Wednesday!

Please keep Deb and her family in your thoughts and prayers as she begins the most significant and challenging campaign of all.

We will do our best to post updates on Deb's progress frequently, so please check back here. Please also feel free to post 'well wishes' to her that she can see over the next few weeks as she is able.

Hey Deb,
Glad to hear you had a liquid beverage tonight before your "Big Day" even if it was chicken broth. See you soon on the island in your bikini around pool while your are recovering. Maybe Bob the pool boy will serve us a cocktail or two. Get well soon.

Mom went to Galveston Sunday morning and I came in from Pflugerville, picked Sheree up at the airport and joined them that afternoon. Debra was nervous but in good spirits. She was late going back to the hospital yesterday; I don't think she was in any hurry to get back! She did well on her liquid diet. I never thought I would see her eat red Jello (through a straw) and enjoy it! We played a couple of hands of Uno before I had to go home. She won, of course. Keep the prayers coming and if you want to send flowers she has specifically requested tropicals, bromeliads and orchids :)

Chicken broth and red jello! Yum...
Take care and we will continue to monitor your progress. We are thinking about you.

What a trouper you are, Deb! Once again showing your great strength of character. We loved being with you and Bob last weekend and had fun on the balcony at the parade. We can't wait to see you soon, when this terrible surgery is behind you. We have thought of little else since we first heard. (BTW, we promise better caviar next time!) All our love.

What a relief to hear that the surgery went well and that you have been handling all this with typical Danburg aplomb. Will let the folks know at the Health Law and Policy Institute--and will suggest orchids! :)

debra: I'm recovering from surgery myself! I just heard about this ordeal of yours yesterday. Brenda Lee and I would like to add our best wishes, sympathies and encouragement for a speedy recovery!!! At least it's a chance to rest while looking forward to the new lease on life and what you're going to do when you're up and around.

Take care, keep your chin up... in your case, it's WAY up... and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Go easy on the pizza!

Ah, Debra and Bob,
we've been thinking of you and praying for you, (trying to find recent updates!)...at church I even voiced "Debra" during the silent 'additional' prayers section - you can only appreciate that if you knew how seldom I am ever heard at church - when singing I do my best to just mouth the words...so when the whole church is quite and praying silently for me to say "Debra" out loud-like is a reflection of just how concerned we have been for you. We keep threatening to come down and see y'all, Chip wants to visit sooner than later but I figure you need to heal a bit before we start tickling your funny bone, 'cause I know it hurts to laugh. Oh one more thing, ...remember you have drugs - Bob doesn't have an excuse to get into the Vicadan...No need to go easy on the poor guy, just something to keep in mind. oh and if you can make complete sentences consider yourself a genius - it takes a good long while for the fog of surgery to lift...so be easy on yourself Love you
